Our Democratic Body
Our Democratic Body is an episode of a fictive makeover show in which a candidate has its identity composed according to the audience’s votes. The hosts guide us through the body’s transformation while referring to, amongst others, theory on social interaction by Erving Goffman or fashion theory by Joanne Entwistle. The movie parallels the makeover format with social theory to argue that individual identity is always expressed in relation to a collective process. The speculative makeover show amplifies what role social media plays in this process. ⤿2016
