The Body Hair Image
When conducting the project in 2014, there were significant attempts on social media to make women’s body hair more visible. Yet, the stock imagery company Getty Images made available to their clients only photographs of perfectly shaved female bodies. This research gathers arguments to invite Getty Images to include more body hair on their images. I have collaborated with photographers to replicate Getty Images’ visual language and create a mock-up of a ‘women nude’ search on their platform. It demonstrates that women with natural hair growth does not contrast with the visual discourse they employ for their beauty market. ⤿2014
